Piles Of Smiles! Cake

Happy days are here again! Draw smiley faces on fondant circles using a black FoodWriter™ Edible Color Marker. Place the faces on vibrantly dressed cakes and globes from our Globe Pillars and Base Sets.


step 1

In advance: Make faces on globes. Fill top opening on one 3 in. globe with fondant for face on top of cake.

step 2

Tint 24 oz. fondant yellow. Roll out 1/8 in. thick.

step 3

For five 3 in. globes, cut 3 1/2 x 7 in. rectangles.

step 4

Brush globes with piping gel and cover with fondant; smooth with fingers.

step 5

For four 2 1/2 in. globes, cut 2 1/2 x 5 in. rectangles; cover and smooth as above. Let dry.

step 6

Prepare 2-layer cakes for globe pillar construction. Prepare cakes for rolled fondant.

step 7

Tint 18 oz. of fondant rose, 36 oz. green; cover cakes and smooth with Fondant Smoother.

step 8

Tint portions of each color a darker shade for polka dots; roll out 1/16 in. thick.

step 9

Using smallest Cut-Out, cut polka dots; attach to cakes with damp brush.

step 10

Roll out remaining yellow fondant 1/8 in. thick. Using medium Cut-Out, cut faces; attach to cake with damp brush.

step 11

Draw facial features with black FoodWriter. Assemble cakes on globe pillars and base set.

*Combine Leaf Green with Lemon Yellow for green shade shown.
